I'm 17 years old, 6' 1/2'', white, average build, average strength, not that quick, not a high jumper I can only get the rim occasionally , good decision maker, average passer, well above average three point shooter, mediocre mid-range, not very good driving to the basket, but i know what shot is mine and have the court vision to know when to pass it up.

I've never played on a team before, I usually play pick up at my local YMCA, so I think I'm doing ok. I think I would play shooting guard (Maybe small forward because I've noticed the YMCA league isn't very tall). I'm looking to play on a team this fall and am trying to get ready. Currently I'm practicing free throws, shooting a lot of threes and dribbling as much as possible. What are some think in the weight room and on the court I should practice more?

  1. Well the obvious thing in the weight room would be core body so you can have a stronger jump stop and better pull when you go up from a jumper. Also you arms because if most of your shots reside mid-range and long then your golden but a SG or SF usually need to take it in some times so you will need some power especially for your size.

On the court work on lay-ups and dribbling with your opposite hand, like if your right handed then work on your left or vice versa so on the court if your being gurded right you will have an alternative plus good enough skills to get there as if you were ambidextrious.

    good luck!

  2. lmao, that first chick is a dumbass.   work on your core thats where all your motions come from.

  3. I'd think you would be a SG too, unless you're really comfortable with ball handling. Work on your layups. If you get really good at layups you'll be better at going to the basket. Alot of people think that going to the basket is just for posts, but it's for guards too. So work on your right and left handed layups.

  4. have u tried air aleart??...dat works. so ull be able 2 jump higher and your legs will get stronger so u should be faster 2. work on dat mid range and dont stop on dat 3 point either(since dats ur best strength). but yeah keep workin on dat dribbiling.
