  1. 14.99+3=17.99

    17.99x2=35.98

    35.98+5=40.98

    40.98/3=16.33

  2. $40.98/3

    =$13.66

  3. Let x be the price the store paid for the jeans. Then we have the following equation:

    (3x - 5)/2 - 3 = 14.99,

    from which we get

    3x = 17.99 x2 = 35.98

    hence

    x = 35.98/3 = 11,97 (approx).

  4. 14.99=[3x-5] /2 - 3

    ***x= 13.66***

  5. You can reverse the numbers and math.  Use addition instead of subtraction, and division instead of multiplication, and vice versa.

    $14.99 + $3 x 2 + $5 / 3

    $17.99 x 2 + $5 /3

    $35.98 + $5 /3

    $40.98 / 3 = $13.66

    Just to prove it:

    $13.66 x 3 = $40.98

    $40.98 - $5 = $35.98

    $35.98 / 2 = $17.99

    $17.99 - $3 = $14.99
