I mainly ride reining horses, and that is what I want to show in and train in when I am older but I have problem when I ask for a slide stop I tend to through my body backwards, which troughs the horse off balance. And I am having a really hard time correcting, and I need some advice on how to correct my position when slide stopping.

  1. Well just grab the saddle horse because then you cant throw yourself back.. Sorry I am not good with western riding do mainly english but rode western about a year ago. I like english better then again my horse is trained wester just english tack..

  2. when ur going into the slide shift ur pelvis not ur whole body that will keep you from leaning back , also make sure u have your feet pushed slightly forward with heels down this too should help correct any equitation problem , well u are training have some one video you if possible and u will see what u really look like while riding it will show you what you are doing right or wrong and help you to adjust your style till you get wgat you want

  3. http://ontheweb.colors.at

you can get much information in this website, If you will check anyone blue link in website.

  4. Drop your stirrups. It doesn't make sense, but it works. My trainer and I are working on stops right now too, and she tells me to drop my stirrups, and when I do, I don't lean back in my stop. My problem is that I lean into my stirrups with my feet and back with my torso. So if you drop your stirrups you will have to balance yourself without your stirrups.

And for a while, you'll really have to think every time you stop, and go through a mental checklist to make sure that your body position looks great during your stops.

When you stop, don't think about leaning back with your upper body at all. Think about your hips and pelvis just melting into the saddle and into your horses stops, but still stay upright.

    Hope it helps.   :)

  5. make sure that your girth is on tite and that your saddle is not sliding to one side .One time i was getting ready to ride and my girht was not on tite enough and my dad told me that i needed to to titen my girht then he did just fine

    good luck!♥

  6. Not great in western normally do english but have ridden western for a couple of years.

Push down hard in the saddle and GRAB the front of the saddle.

    Check this video,

That was what i did, i know it's not really the right way but it was the only way i got it. After a while you will probably just go back to postion without the aid of the saddle pommel.
