Need Help with GTA3 pc cheat codes!!?

Ok, So i bought GTA3 2nd Edition for the pc.. I want to enter cheat codes but I do not know where to do this.

Different websites say to enter them during game play, I try this and nothing happens. I am confused and frustrated.. >.<

yes u do have to write them during the game but u got to write it not too fast or too slow or it will not activate and also check for spelling mistakes

P.S:It will say Cheat Activated in the upper left corner
