I just have new neighbor moved in with a special child (deaf-mute). He goes to a special school. Sometime, I need to communicate with him. Where can I find a book of sign language (English)?

I was unable to buy it in Thailand. Or any website that would help me with a few words like, dinner yet, how's things, thank you and other daily dialogs.

Anyone would share this kind of book? I'll pay S/H to Thailand.

  1. First of all, you need to make certain WHICH sign language he uses.  Sign language is NOT universal, but from what I read, Thai Sign Language (TSL) is close to American Sign Language (ASL).

You can check out ASL here:

    http://www.aslpro.com/cgi-bin/aslpro/asl...

    http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/...

    http://www.masterstech-home.com/ASLDict....

Remember, a word can have more than one meaning, though.  When you SET a table, it's different than having a SET of marbles.  Any sign language is very difficult to learn from a book, because books are only two-dimensional.  ASL is not Signed English.  It is a separate language with different grammar than English.  Those sites can show you basic individual signs, but learning the grammar and modulations would probably require taking classes.
