  1. try a balloon party? a treasure hunt with treats around the house? or maybe musical chairs using chocs for prizes (you'll probably want to use cushions or just fold up some towels if your rooms not that big). look up some simple magic tricks on line and teach the tricks to the kids as part of an entertainment maybe?

  2. My son had a sleep over party for his 10th and we played charades and we had an organized pillow fight competition. We brought out one of the boys twin mattresses and put it in the living room. I split the kids into two teams and then set some rules about being too rough. W had one kid from each team take their position on the mattress and they each had a pillow. They had to use the pillows to try and push their opponent off the mattress. Once someone had both feet off the mattress then the one still stading won a point for their team. Then two more would come up. We played to 15. The boys had a blast. If anyone got too rough or used the pillow to hit then their team lost a point. It was a lot more calm and oprganized than I thought it would be.

  3. You never said whether boy or girl, so I will throw an idea out there that we are thinking about.  We have a daughter who is turning 6 in may and we thought about the build a bear party.  BUT she is now talking about a pajama party.

Where her friend come  from 4 to 8 pm in there pajamas and we will have pizza, kareoke, videos, cake and presents.  Good Luck.

  4. I had a friend do the neatest thing. Instead of having gift bags with little dollar items in it, she bought stuffed animals - a couple dollars each or so - and tied a balloon to them. Throughout the party, the birthday girl drew names. When their name was called they got to pick a stuffed animal as their party gift. There were monkeys and lizards that the boys liked, too!

  5. Video games

    DVD rental

    Pizza

    Slumber party.

A themed birthday party is always exciting. :)

  6. 10 is a hard age.  They are in between a child and a teenager.  You dont say if the 10 year old is a boy or girl though.  Boys at that age are less mature so you can still get away with more childish entertainment.  How about a magician if it's a boy or sleepover movie night if it's a girl?

  7. Check out www.familyfun.com, they have lots of great ideas.  I think the treasure hunt sounds really fun.  When my daughter's friends come over, we always make homemade pizza...I get refrigerated biscuits (Pillsbury) and you flatten them, then add pizza sauce, cheese and have lots of toppings.  Also good is make your own cupcakes...make cupcakes and have vanilla and chocolate icing...let the kids ice them and add sprinkles and things.
