Question:

Need Info on upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh Sneak Preview

I'm planning on going to the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh Sneak Preview for The Genesis Duelist booster packs and plan on just participating in the Open Dueling since I've never done competitive dueling yet and would rather go to a Hobby League at first.

But anyway, I need some info on what to expect at a Sneak Preview. Below are the questions I'm asking.

1. Does it cost anything to enter, I believe it costs $20 to participate in the Open Dueling, but does it cost anything if you're just going to go and watch, cause I've got my family a friend coming to help give me some up-lifting words since even if it's just Open Dueling it'll be my first time dueling people I don't know and I'm very nervous.

2. Should I bring some packets to hold the cards I get in?

3. What should I bring with me to the Sneak Preview? I know you need to bring things like a calculator, pencil, paper, Deck List, things like that to actual tournaments, but I'm not sure if I also need to bring some of those things if I'm just going to do Open Dueling at the Sneak Preview.

4. How exactly does a Sneak Preview work? (I'd like somewhat of a detailed response for this one)

5. What time does it start and what time does it end? I've got church that ends at 12 and plan on leaving right after church, it takes an hour and 12 minutes to get there and I'd really like the promo card, so I was wondering if I might be able to make it there in time and what time the Sneak Preview ended.

Anyway, I'll say beforehand, thanks so much to everyone who gives me good, detailed responses ^w^

  1. I'm an expert at Sneak Previews as I've been to alot of them and have spent lots of money there myself.  I'm not going to answer all of your questions, just one of them.  I'm gonna asnwer #5.  All I have to say is that if you don't get there by 8 in the morning then there is no sense in even wasting your time and going at 1 oclock or 1:30.  By my experience they usually run out of promo cards by 10 or 11 and they usually run out of packs to hand out by 12.  It may be open until 4, but it's only open until they have no more packs to hand out.  Usually they have this for 2 days on Saturday and Sunday.  So if you have church on both days then you are screwed.  I'm sorry to be so upfront with this, but it's the truth.  It makes no sense to answer your other questions if you are not gonna get there in time.

However, I did just realize that I live in New York.  There are lots and lots of Yugioh players here and the stuff tends to sell out pretty quickly here.  It all depends on where you live and how popular Yugioh is in your area.  So I'd say give it a shot and you might get lucky.

  2. Im an Expert at sneak previews since i've been to all since it started but my sundays a really lazy so i have time to get there before it opens.

1.If your entering it cost $25 it will not cost your family friend anything  Becuase they wont be recieving any cards.

2.I always bring an extra large deck box for the cards i recive and i bring my usual deck becuase i also play in the big tourney. But you really should bring something secure to put your cards in becuase most of those people are theifs.

    3. I would just bring a calculator and if you now how to use a clculaor to hold life points then just bring all i mention and a calculator. Some traders if you get bored and want to look to trade people in the other actuall tourney.

4.You start by getting 5 packs and you can build a deck with the cards you pull but you can not mix the cards you alredy have from previous packs only the cards you recive there. They give you a paper that show who you dueled. After you have dueled 5 people you go to the judge give them the paper sighned by 5 people and they give you another pack that you can add to your open dueling deck.(Sometimes people just sighn each others papers to get the free pack)

5.The sneak preview starts at 8:00 so if you arive after 9 your probally not gonna get the card(from what ive heard its not that good compared to other sneak preview cards) It closes at 4:00 it doors open so come and leave at any time.

6.Fill out a paper and exchange it with a judge for a UDE card.

    Hope this helps  =>

  3. it cost twenty dollars it doesnt cost if someone comes with you and watch.yes you will need a deck box or a card box if you have tons of decks.you will need a deck of course maybe a bottle of water because there will be no lunch breaks a calculator is what you need because if some errors happens judges will have to do something always keep track of life points.at a sneak preview you will get five packs of the new set if you turn in a scorecard wich tells that you have duel five other people you need to turn it in and you will get another pack you will also get a promo card.the tournament starts ant nine am and ends at six pm.if you don't have a ude card the judges will give one to you.

  4. Hey, how did you get your additional details to show on the question on the answering screen? Everybody else's Additional Details disappears! Well, anyway, I'll answer your questions and, if you choose me for the best answer, can you please answer my question? So:

    1. I don't believe it does. I've gone to 2 Sneak Previews and my dad wasn't charged when he walked in. But then again, I was at the Disposable Heroes in Johnston, and they are very lenient on a lot of stuff. Be sure to check with the officials first.

    2. Remember, you pay $20, and you get 5 booster packs and you could get a Participation card for free. And after you duel 5 times, you get a free booster pack. You can do this process as much as you want. Each time you enter, if you enter early, the most cards you get is 55 cards (9 in each booster pack, getting the extra pack, and getting the promo). You can get multiples of that promo card if you enter enough times before they run out. So whether you need a container or not to carry your cards depends on how many times you enter. Personally, I usually enter twice, for a total of 110 cards. But many of those get traded away.

    3. You don't need a deck list. You can bring the other stuff, because they are always helpful.

    4. Before the Sneak Preview begins, the Judges sign in. That usually means that the Sneak Preview will soon begin. When it starts, everybody goes to the desk that has the booster packs on them and the pile of people turns into a line. Then the first person in the line shows their UDE card and $20. If you do not have a UDE card, then the person either tells you to fill out a paper or tells you who can give you the paper you need to fill out. After you fill that out, you will most likely need to go back to the line. Then you hand in your info and they will give you your card. This card has your UDE number on it. When it is your turn in line, you show them your UDE and tell them your name. When everything checks out, you pay $20 and get your 5 booster packs, the Sneak Preview Participation card (if they still have one), and a Dueling Sheet. On this sheet, you write your UDE number and your name where needed and you duel other people and get their UDEs and their name and write their name on your sheet. (However, there are people who will just ask for your name and UDE to write on their sheet without having to duel you. In exchange, they will usually write their name and UDE on your sheet). You will also have to circle whether you won or lost the duel. When you have "dueled" 5 different people, you bring the Dueling Sheet to the desk with the booster packs. You exchange that paper for another booster pack. Then, for you, the tournament is over, unless you want to enter again for another $20. You can stay at that place for as long as you want. Also, if you stay long enough, they will give a free shirt to one lucky person who entered. At the last one, I won a Light of Destruction T-shirt.

    5. You can enter the Sneak Preview pretty much whenever you want, and you have to leave when the store closes. Other than that, go crazy. But remember that only the first few (maybe 50) people get the Sneak Preview Participation card.

    6. I pretty much answered #6 when I answered #4. The staff members of the Sneak Previews will always show you the way around the Sneak Preview.
