Epstein Bar. My grandmother, my dad's mom has it and also so does my mom. Is this hereditary? I had Mono about 3 years back and ever since then I have been so tired. I can sleep all day. Should I be tested for Mono again or ask my DR about Epstein Bar? How is this diagnosed? Also, I have been TTC ( trying to conceive) for 3 years too Do you think this could be my reason for not conceiving? What is the treatment for Epstein Bar? Thanks. =]

  1. "Epstein Barr" is not a genetic (hereditary)condition... it's the name of one of the most common communicable viruses in the human population.   By age 30, more than 98% of all human beings have been exposed to it and developed an immunity to it, and many of those people had liver trouble (infectious mononucleosis) the first time they became infected with it.

It's *extremely* rare for anyone to develop "mono" a second time from an EB infection, but symptoms from a severe bout of mono can take many, many months to subside completely: it took me more than a year, and I have a friend whose mono-related fatigue continued for almost 3 years.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with your fertility if you're otherwise healthy.
