Usually hitting your ionic breeze with a can of compressed air, inside and out works against the sizzling noise. If you have missing flaps, its ok. Their purpose was to bring those round balls on the inside wires up and down to clean the lines each time you take the insert in and out. I hope this knowledge helps you guys out and answers your questions. Now, I too have a problem. I have 2 Ionic Breeze Quatro Professional Series SI737. Love them. one makes an audible sizzling noise and its getting really annoying. When i replace the insert with my other ionic breeze insert, it runs silent, but when i change them back it runs loud again. This leads me to believe i have a bad insert. i have cleaned the insert as much as i can without going too far as to break the warranty... and still... the noise. I have nuked the whole unit inside and out with nine 20oz. cans of compressed air. There has still been no change and i have yet to find a contact number where i can reach someone who supports the product. The Sharper Image store in this area closed down a few months back and im beginning to feel like im stuck with a broken product. I have company coming for Christmas and would really love there to not be a brain dissolving noise emitting from my Ionic Breeze, especially since it says it runs silent.
