  1. Make a number line as so:

    -15, -14,-13, ...0, 1, 2, 3...17

    Now place the letter A over the number 8, B over -9, C over 17, and D over -14. Now, you just count the difference between AB, BC, CD, and AD. For instance, AB would be from -9 to 8, which equals 9+8= 17. BC is the difference from -9 to 17. So, BC=9+17=26. I'll let you try the other two.

  2. just put them together like ab would be (8,-9) it's pretty simple

  3. AB= I8-(-9)I=17

    BC=I-9-17I=I-26I= 26

    CD=I17-(-14)I=31

    AD=I8-(-14)I=22

  4. Assume these are points on a line....The distance between them is what you need to find.

    The distance is simply the difference x2-x1 or delta x

    Since distance is always positive we use the absolute value:

    d=|x2-x1|
