I'm flying this Sunday from Sacramento to Chicago,my first trip alone. I'm going on a missionary trip and I need to bring my own bedding (which means a air mattress w/ pump, pillow, etc..). Any good tips for saving space when packing?

  1. rolling your clothes (laying them flat and rolling them up instead of folding) uses less space so that you can pack stuff in.

Putting items in baggies and vacuum sealing (sucks the air out)them works great, also.

  2. If you are going for a few days (2-5) then you can pack those little shapoos, toothbrushes, and shaving cream and stuff you can get at the drug store, but you can do that anyway. Its a great idea! Dont pack to many clothes, i mean pack enough underwear and stuff but you can just use your clothes for two days (if its not dirty). I use these tips all the time

  3. If you have access to one of those vacuum sealers you can pack your clothes in those plastic bags and then suck the air out and seal them.  This saves an awesome amount of space.  Use every space - put socks or underwear inside shoes, things like that.  Pack frugally - most of us pack way more clothes for a trip than we really need.
