We were gone for about 7 days and forgot to shock our pool before leaving. We have our filter on a timer so that was running. We got large amounts of rain also while we were gone. I returned to a pool with algae covering the bottom.Yesterday I added one shock treament and scrubed all the algae aff the bottom. Now our water is cloudy green from I am sure the stuff I scrubbed off the bottom. this morning I added another shock treatment . I am running the filter also during this time. The algicide I have says to Clorinate and Clarify before adding so I have not added it yet because the water is still green / cloudy. We have always had clear beautiful water until now. I really need to get this clear we are having a pool party this weekend. Any suggestions or help is greatly welcome.

  1. I live in FL and this happens all the time to us, make sure u have the clorine in and use the algicide too. At least 1 day a week i use the shock treatment and the algicide as a preventitive, then if we have real heavy rains then i have to use it more often. Also make sure u clean ur filter real good. When my pool gets green then i have to clean the filter like 2x a week till it clears.

    Good Luck!!!

  2. my pool has been the exact same way. after about a week of putting chemicals in it, it finally cleared up(doesnt help that the pollen levels are so usually up there). just keep putting algaecide and chlorine in it. it should be fine in about a week! (:
