Question:

Need Some Info With An HDTV?

There's a 24" HDTV that I want to buy but it's hard to find a smaller HDTV that supports full 1080p HD resolution. I found one one on a website for sale and it has a built-in 1080p HDTV tuner, does this mean that I can watch shows and play my video games in full 1080p HD resolution? Kind of confused, help please.

  1. Probably not. That means it has a tuner capable of receiving an over-the-air 1080 signal. The TV most likely down converts that to 720.

There's a reason that 1080P sets are so hard to find in the smaller sizes. The pixels are already so small and so close together that there is no real benefit. (unless you watch TV from six inches away) I remember when we were seeing the first of the 1080P sets and the reviewers were telling us that 1080 made little to no difference in picture quality until you hit 50" and larger.

The only time I would ever recommend a 1080 set that small (if you could even find one) would be for use as a computer monitor.

    Edit: spelling
