help guys. i need tips. i want to improve my vertical jump. i stand 5'9 and i want to improve my vertical jump in short period of time. is it possible? and also i want to improve my spiking. thank you for your reply.

  1. Jump: Jump more with both feet and good arm swing. You'd better have a coach or videotape yourself since most of the time you thought you were doing right but others would say you were off-balance.

    Spiking: Make sure you jump behind the ball, not under the ball. Put some of your body weight thru your arm on the ball. You need to work out in a gym if you are old enough to strength up your muscles.


  2. First thing to improve your jump is to jump a lot.  You should also do wind sprints to improve your fast-twitch muscles.  Do Wall jumps before and after every practice 3 sets of 10 of max jumps.  Most important is to stretch.  Your muscles as they get stronger, they get shorter unless you stretch them and shorter muscles will not let you jump at your best.

    As you did not describe your hitting style at the moment there is no way to tell you how to improve.  Things to keep in mind are approach, arm swing, and timing.  Approach should be a quick 3 step approach (fast twitch muscles), Fast arm swing, with an open hand, and snapping your wrist over the ball.  Timing, start your approach when the ball is reaching the top of its arc from the setter.

  3. i can't help you in improving your vertical jump but i can help you im prove your spiking...the first thing you do is practice a close hand spike then if you do well try open hand then that way you'll improve your spiking

    Look at the ball and jump only when u know u can hit the ball.

    Place your arms in a cup shape while hitting.

  5. get your arm up quicker and just attack the ball at the net

    if you get your elbow up quicker it wil help make the ball ball go more down onto the court

  6. A cheap practice volleyball and find a nearby wall - do any kind of spiking at any kind of set - like a high, medium and low set - so that you are ready for any of these.

    And if you get bored - then try some left (or other) handed spikes. The ball will sometimes be in the wrong position - so why not spike it there...

    You toss the ball up and go for your spike.

    Constant practice will give you the confidence to spike at any reasonable set.

    The cheap practice volleyball will take any kind of punishment on any outside surface - brick, concrete, etc etc.

    You should find this will improve you 1000% ?

  7. to improve your vertical jump, you should work out your legs by either running or doing those stairmaster things. the better shape your calves are in, the higher you will be able to jump and the faster you can run too.

    to improve your spiking, most people who have mistakes when spiking are usually doing something not right in their approach, so try practicing your approach and maybe get a friend to record what you're doing so you can see what you're doing wrong.

  8. to improve your vertical put ankle weights on that are heavy enough to make you work pretty hard to jump. then jump rope or do block jumps or something where you have to jump. i did it and my vertical went up 2.5 inches.
