I need the torque specs for a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL U-Bolts for a 9 inch rear end. These are the bolts that bolt the rear end to the leaf spring. Did internet search and found nothing. Please help.

  1. tighten them down equally and very tight. Never mind the torque specs on an old car like that

  2. Fifty foot-pounds should be correct.

The nuts are supposed to be self locking.

If they don't have a little hint of a triangular shape to the nut , you might want to use "Lock-tight" on them.

I have a couple Galaxies of my own.

    Old f**t Ford Racer

P.S. I looked it up in the Ford Factory shop manual and it says"35-50" ft-lb.

  3. you can find it on this chart, http://raskcycle.com/techtip/webdoc14.ht...

or go to your library and look at a repair manual..
