Question:

Need Trig to do PreCalc?

Currently I'm a 10th grader and I'm in a math class called Integrated Math 3. I've heard one semester of this class is spent reviewing algebra 2 and then in the second semester it goes into triginometry, and usually people who pass go on to PreCalc next year, so i figure this class is for people out of algebra 2 who weren't ready for PreCalc. So I'm considering getting changed to PreCalc this year, since i've also talked to someone in my grade who is taking Algebra 2 this year and is planning on going to precalc next year.

So my question is, is there anything you should know for PreCalculus that they dont teach in Algebra 2?

Since I'm only a sophmore its not urgent that I get switched into PreCalc this year, I'd rather just stay in the class I'm in rather than get switched then not have a clue what they're talking about.

By the way. I'm the only sophmore in my class, its mostly juniors and a couple seniors. And I've already gotten high school credit for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2.

Thanks

  1. Yes

  2. Yes generally its necessary to learn Trig to learn Precalc. In my freshman year i took Algrebra 2/Trig, basically by the last few months we started learning trig. You need it for PreCalc because there are very heavy Trig elements like graphing and various trig function properties to learn. Don't worry its veryyyyyy easy compared to things like geometry. Plus any handy dandy scientific calculator will help you.
