  1. i know that what I was told from teachers I worked with with special ed, at least there is no discipline, just ignore and reinforce with a positive...

  2. It's whatever your school policies are. Don't go off on your own!

  3. In order for learning to occur, order and respect are necessary. To have order requires discipline from students to behave appropriately. Teachers have the authority to discipline problematic students to try to get them to participate in class in a correct manner that is respectful and considerate of others.

Some methods of discipline that seem appropriate. Separate the student from other students after one or two verbal warnings. Send the student to the principal's office if the options aren't working. I would separate the student for 10 minutes if the student is continuing to act up before sending to the principal's office. The principal's office should be the last resort. The teacher should remain confident and have a plan in mind.

It is not difficult to behave in class. Some students are social and want to chat with their friends. Separate those students if need be after asking them to stop and they just can't or won't.

The teacher should be professional and calm at all times. It's nothing to stress about. Have a plan and all should be fine.

Students will act up from time to time.

Teachers actually have a tougher job than most people give them credit for.

  4. Sounds to me like you have a paper or project due and need help - if that's what you are looking for you need to narrow your scope or provide some specific paramaters.  Like: should Discipline policies for Special Education students be the same as General Education Students.  or How to define school rules so all understand and can enforce. or How to create a task force on discipline etc etc etc.

so you want better answers - need a better question.

  5. My ideas range from the 1950s and 60s when ther eWAS discipline in the classrooms, and also my ideas are from England.

Now my ideas (which I think you really intended to say opinions) are based in America and are 2000s.

    1.  There has been foundational sociological change in the world in those 50 years, so that what used to be easy and expected (silence and stillness while an authority figure spoke/lectured) is no longer either expected or easy.

    2. Children are also very much more challenged by society and have more "savvy" about the world.  For example, Youtube and Wikipedia (plus skads of other factors) have given kids a way broader picture of life.

    3.  Because of 1 and 2, you have children and young adults who are NOT interested in the kinds of classrooms and traditional methods of learning.  My husband, a collelge prof for aeons just retired saying the kids of today are "ineducable" in the standard way of college life.  They are unable to abstract and unlkily to have an original thought.

    4.  So sorry.

Now as to methods of discipline in school?  Find another job baby.  Or start teaching HEAVILY using the technology  available, so that you can keep the majority of the kids involved and interested.  Having a full and dynamic LESSON PLAN is the best solution to rowdy classrooms.  Your material must be more interesting than the  conversation or activity of another kid!  TOUGH job.
