  1. Rather than buy a crappy 2.1 system, you should buy a 5.1 system.  There's a link below to a pretty cheap one.

  2. Buy an oldschool stereo receiver and speakers off Craigslist, or a  yard sale, or thrift store.   Or pick up an Altec-Lansing computer speaker setup used, like the ACS340.  It'll be enough for a small room or apartment with thin walls.

  3. For the money and a smaller setup, the Bose 3.2.1 is the way to go.

  4. klipsch has a nice 2.1 thx system for about $150.00 at best buy

  5. I would try and narrow it down to say 5 that do everything you need and google that hifi with the word 'review' and your get the proffesional opinions from many sources.

You could also just buy a few magazines such as what hi-fi.

The opinions of individuals on something like this are biased because they just don't want to admit they spent £500 on a lump of junk!

  6. Look on eBay, I bet they have tonnes for very cheap!!

  7. y not 5.1? 2.1 is kinda sucky?
