Hello,

I want to purchase a Laptop, which should have the following config:

--> Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo -- with speed above 2.0 GHz

--> Speed from 3GB Ram

--> Space of 250GB HDD

--> I would like to install Windows XP on my new laptop, but by default all the new laptops are today supplied with Windows Vista. Hence this Laptop should support me for removing the Vista OS & loading of Windows XP on it.

--> config wise i have heard a lot @ Dell for the best config in less price, but there are few problems that prevail in Dell like Heating issue, very poor sound quality, not very good with resinstallation of new OS after removing the factory loaded OS of Vista, etc ...

Hence please correct me if the above flaws that i ve heard are just rumors or they are real problems in DELL.

Kindly suggest me a best brand, which may fullfill my above requirements in an attractive price also.

  1. I am VAR/Network Integrator, so I deal with computers all day long.

    I too have had my fill with Dell!

    I found a great laptop, will fill all your needs, and you can find them at www.globalcomputer.com they are supported by AMERICANS in Fletcher Ohio, and they actually speak American.

    The laptop brand is Systemax.

  2. i highly recommend sony vaio, they are the most dependable , reliable laptops but you would need to check for drivers, i got them easily for my vaio from the sony site

  3. All Laptop Service Centre-

  4. 1) A 32 bit operating system can address 4GB of memory.  Since video memory sits in the same address space as system memory, you get 4GB total - you can access whatever part of the 4GB of system memory that the video memory doesn't use.  (A 512 MB card will leave you 3.5GB of system memory.)  A 64 bit operating system can address many terabytes of memory, so you'll see all 4GB of system RAM - even with XP 64 bit.

    2) Both Dell and HP still offer some laptops with XP.  I'm not thrilled with either company, although I've dealt with both for years.  (I'm typing this on a Dell Optiplex.)

    I like my new Gateway (never thought I'd hear me saying that) 6860 - great video for gaming, 4GB installed, 320GB drive and an empty drive bay, full size keyboard (1.86 GHz Intel dual core).  But it won't even get to the first prompt on an XP installation CD, so it's limited to Vista and Linux.

  5. You could get a gateway 6874h, 2.0ghz, 3gb of ram, 250gb hd, radeon 2600 for $800 canadian...... i went to staples and touched the keyboard and heat dissapater or watchama callit and the gateway was the coolest, with an attractive price. the only ones that matched the heat dissapation was the high end hps and sonys.

  6. check out the latest and greatest deals on PCs and or build your own with links provided on this site.  have any questions feel free to shoot me an email.  I am here to help anytime getting you a great deal on a brand spankin new PC.

  7. if you are going to install XP don't get 3GB xp can't read 3GB of RAM. Settle with 2GB that's all that you need.

    I would recommend hp, or toshiba.

  8. Go for Dell XPS Systems. Yes there is a poblem if u want to reinstall XP but  it can still be done. rest are simply rumours
