Question:

Need a Project...Hands-On Hobby? Something!?

At first I wanted to get another pet, only for outdoors like a large dog or an outdoor cat...

But we can't really afford everything the animal would deserve.

Then I thought I'd start some sort of garden?

What do you guys think? Vegetable garden? Simple plant?

What's EASY & UBER CHEAP (think dollar store) to start, easy to maintain, but does need daily care?

It's sort of my way of giving my day purpose to get out of a deep depression. THANKS!

  1. gardening or maybe collecting cards tazos etc good luck

  2. Have you ever tryed cooking ? Small stuff at first and then have your friends try what you've made and then have them tell you what they think. I did this when I was younger and today I do it all the time, its just interesting to see what you can do.

Try it and have fun with it.

  3. Chia pets are great if you want small plants, especially the herbs ones, and they're really easy to take care of (they market them for kids so you know they're easy!). If you're looking for something a bit bigger, they also sell various packets of seeds at Walmart for just a dollar or two. Depending on the plant, you can just start it out in a cheap little two dollar pot and put it in the front yard as it gets bigger.

Growing your own food is a GREAT thing to do as long as you do it right (clean the plants well before eating them!). It saves a lot of money and nothing tastes better than fresh, non-chemical-treated veggies!

If you're looking for something other than gardening, but not quite as difficult as a cat, maybe a fish. Fish aren't cuddly and cute but they require a certain amount of responsibility and it's a good hobby. I had Beta fish. They were really gorgeous. You can't keep them together though because they fight.

Other pets that aren't as time-consuming as a cat could include hamsters or rats. Rats are really friendly. I had a couple and they'd just hang out on my shoulders and share my snacks. (A peanut for you, a peanut for me.) They're really sweet.

I personally like crocheting as a hobby, and I'm considering making it a business. It's time consuming but you can work at your own pace, work for an hour and stop for a week or vice versa, and there would be no repercussions if you got too busy to keep it up for a while. You can make all kinds of trendy, useful things: scarves, beanies, skirts, ponchos, gloves, arm warmers, blankets. Cheap Christmas gifts! Yarn is only a few bucks for a few hundred yards, and crochet hooks are only a dollar or two a piece. At most craft stores, like Joann's or Michael's or Hobby Lobby (it depends on where you live), they sell leaflets for only a few bucks that will show you how to crochet very easily and include patterns with simple instructions on how to make some basic things (such as the above mentioned scarves, beanies, skirts, etc.) very easily.
