I live in Long beach california.

I have tried calling some beekeepers but they charge. I haven't been able to find any that won't charge. I got a guy that said he had too many bees right now. As of right now we blocked the hole where they have been in we covered with hardening foam. Anyone know if bees can eat through concrete or hardening foam. there are still a bunch trying to get in the hole but they can't . They hive has been closed off.

  1. Are these honey bees? There is a significant shortage of honey bees right now because of a mysterious die off. Do you really want to kill more bees by starving them to death? Please open the hole until you find a solution.

I can't imagine that there are no bee keepers who would welcome more bees now. My advice is to keep trying. Is there some kind of association in your area? Or perhaps a governmental agency that works with agriculture. There has to be someone who want the bees enough to come and get them.

They can not eat through concrete, I don't know of any insect or animal that can. I don't know what hardening foam is so I can't answer that part.

  2. Trust me, you don't want that hive dying inside your wall.  Once the bees die, the comb will melt (the bees keep it cool by depositing water or nectar and then fanning it with their wings).    If the comb melts, the honey will seep into the wall and may seep out into the living space.   Also, with thousands of bees dead and decomposing inside the wall, you will have one helluva smell on your hands.

The right way to deal with it is to get someone to first deal with the bees, either by extermination or by smoking them out, and then the siding or interior wall must be removed and the hive cleaned out before it melts and makes a big mess.

  3. The bees trying to get back in "Home" will die soon.  If they can't get in and out they will die very soon without being able to get water etc.

It's work to get a hive out of where ever it is.  It cost money to get there.  And LOL it takes time.  Do you think bee keepers have no bills?
