Need a boost for ideas for short stories?

I want to write a short story but the thing is, I can't seem to think of a plot as I already used some good ones for my long length stories.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

  1. Take a day in your life, or a day in the life of your shoes, or a day in the life of your backpack-how about "an autobiography of a pink toothbrush"-get the idea?

  2.      Imagine you see someone who's a little off beat.  Better still, go to the mall or the supermarket and have a look round at all the people.  You might see, say, a disgruntled looking middle aged man.  What makes him disgruntled?  Why does he look so disgusted with life?  Imagine you're talking to him across a table.  What does he tell you about himself?  Perhaps his son's just died, or his wife.  Perhaps he's going through a nasty divorce.  Then he tells you a secret.  What is it?  Before you know where you are, you have a story.

    Good luck

  3. If your having trouble trying to think of a plot, just think of some scary movies you like, I always try to make stories that I'm assigned to scary or a horror Noval, its pretty easy I just think of some scary movies ive seen use some of the ideas like the characteristics, setting and throw in some ghosts and zombies.Try reading some s****.-Doo, or anything short and use it sort of a guide line for a short noval!
