I'm building a lightweight go-kart type vehicle. I am using the engine, drivetrain, and transmission from a 1997 nissan maxima. Would it be possible to extract the chassis as well? Or should I build a basic one myself?

  1. Hi Josh, I think you will need to construct your own Chassis as the Nissan Maxima is a monocoque body meaning that the car chassis is constructed in such a way that the chassis and body are combined, and therefore it would be impossible to remove the chassis from the body. To emove a Chassis from any other vehicle and modifying it to the drivetrain would be almost a big a job as building your own anyway. Good Luck

  2. There is no chassis as such in this car. The engine cradle could be used and the rest of the chassis worked out from that. You would need to build the upper a-arm or build shock mounts. The steering arms can be used for the stabilizer bar.

    Good luck.

  3. you want a go cart?, use a volkswagon bug, they make good go carts and dune buggys.

  4. LOL, OK buddy, good luck with that one. You might as well just strip enough parts from the actual car and make it look like a kart.
