I am ready to begin transitioning my almost 7 month old to a sippy or cup from his bottle. Can someone recommend a sippy or trainer cup that is good? Please tell me what you like about it. I would prefer a BPA free sippy/cup. Thanks!!!

  1. Tommee Tippee.

It is a nice size and shape, has 2 rubber handles and is soft to hold it has a rubber spout with a non leak valve.

Its the only cup my 13month old will ever use.

They do a variety of colours for boys and girls.

    Its also dishwasher safe.

  2. This is what I used at first for my son...

Now we are using straw cups...

  3. I really like Nuby's sports sippers.  They look a lot like bottles and function a lot like bottles, so they're an easy transition.  Yes, they're kind of tall, but they have a soft straw type spout which makes it easier to drink from with out drooling.  Yes, they are BPA free.

  4. I ended up opting away from sippy cups for my son. I had heard so many bad things about them.. the inability to really get them clean b/c of all the different valves and whatnot. My son started drinking from when he was about 6 ot 7 months and that's all he will ever drink out of. I had gotten him a sippy cup just to try it, but he never quite got the concept of holding it up and tipping it out (breastfed baby - never had a bottle).

But if you want to try a sippy cup.. just go to the store and look for any training ones. The best ones to use for his age would be ones with handles, obviously. As far as durability.. I have no idea. Every single sippy cup he ever had (he had several at grandma's.. they were more toys than anything) within a week had a crack in it. I did find a "sippy cup" for him that had a rubbery base and top, both removable, and a straw, with a slot that came over to cover it when not in use. He actually did use this a lot, but I took it apart constantly and put each individual piece in the dishwasher to sterilize it.

I would honestly take him to the store with you, and just hand him different ones and see how he holds each one and what his reaction is to them. =)

  5. We use the playtex sipsters spill proof  cup  and I like them and so does My Son. He can grab the handles easy .

  6. The Nuby Sport is a great starter cup, it is more bottle like than othe sippy cups, plus no valves to clean. Once that transition is over it will be easier to move to the other types of Nuby sippy cups they have and there is a wide variety of them. Both of my kids, now 28 months and 11 months, had no problem moving from bottle to Nuby Sport or from Nuby Sport to other sippy cups and finally there was NO problem getting them to use regular glasses/cups, my 11 month old has learned the control of a cup by using sippy cups and now can drink out of a glass (no lid) at dinner time with minimal spills, I credit this all to the sippy cup, I know she wouldn't be able to control the glass on her own yet if we hadn't given sippy cups to her, I think it teaches them control more than just jumping right from bottle to big kid glass. Best of luck.
