It's my turn to bring a snack to pre-k, and it's "red day". Any cool ideas for red snacks for 3 year olds? The more creative, the better. I don't want to buy a bag of Twizzlers and send them in....

  1. Red jello with strawberries? Red fruit such as raspberries and strawberries?

  2. cooked apples in light syrup made by you and a dash of food coloring:red

  3. apples, cherries, strawberries.

  4. Make a red fruit salad! Make a salad with apples, strawberries, raspberries, watermelon, etc. It's healthy AND yummy!

  5. keep it healthy. Lots of kids react to foodcolouring and lots of parents are starting to object to them as well.

great snack ideas include fruit such as apples, watermelon, strawberries, and vegetables such as tomato (small cherry tomatoes) and red capsicum strips served on a platter with strawberry cream cheese dip, or strawberry yoghurt. Add some ricecrackers/ ricecakes with strawberry jam or jam sandwiches and all children (and parents) will be happy. For an extra treat you could bring in a platter of red cocktail franks with tomato sauce.... these always go down well.

  6. apples, jello, tomato soup, cranberry juice and crackers, tomotoes,

  7. I liked red bell peppers when I was in pre-school.

  11. STRAWBERRY COOKIE PIZZA

1 (20 oz.) roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough

1 (3 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese, softened

    2 tbsp. sugar

    2 tbsp. orange juice

    1 sm. banana

    1 1/2 c. sliced strawberries

    1/4 to 1/2 c. drained pineapple tidbits

1/4 c. strawberry Jello or jam

Cut half of cookie dough into 1/2 inch thick slices (chill remaining dough for later or bake according to package directions). Arrange the sliced dough or on an ungreased baking sheet to form an 8 inch circle or smaller (pizza pan).

Bake the cookie crust in a 400 degree oven for about 12 minutes or until the crust is done. Cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet. Using a spatula, loosen the edges of the crust and transfer to a wire rack to cool.

In a small mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and 2 tablespoons of orange juice with an electric mixer until fluffy. Spread over the cooled crust.

Thinly angle slice the banana. Brush with additional orange juice to prevent browning. Arrange evenly over crust, and cream cheese, strawberries and pineapple.

Heat the jelly or jam on low heat until melted. Drizzle over the pizza into wedges to serve. Store any remaining pizza covered in the refrigerator. Makes 6 servings.
