  1. I really like John's Pizzeria, they have very good brick oven pizza, and some good pasta dishes as well.  They also make a mean calzone.  I actually had the rehearsal dinner for my wedding here.  If you are going for inexpensive date, small pizza pie and a pitcher of soda, can't get any cheaper in that area.  It's on 44th bet Broadway and 8th, closer to 8th.

  2. here's two:

    Victor's

    Patsy's

    Websites below....

  3. This is better than Carmine's.

Try Lattanzi located at 361 West 46 Street between 8th and 9th Avenues.  212 315-0980.  Check out their website at www.lattanzinyc.com.  Well rated by Zagats.

  4. It's a little northeast of the theatre district, but La Bonne Soupe is my old time favorite.  I've been going there for over 30 years.  It's worth a short walk to 55th, between 5th and 6th avenues on the south side of the street.  I always get the Crème Andalouse soup.

I even bought their cookbook, and made the Creme Andalouse at home.  It was a lot of work!

  5. Virgil's for BBQ is my favorite; John's pizza is nice but touristy; St. Andrews is a scottish pub with a fantastic restaurant; Haru for Japanese
