Question:

Need a great teen book?

I'm going to the bookstore tonight and...I have no idea what to read! I'm looking for a good teen book. It can be historical, fantasy, Hollywood, real life, action, I'm pretty much open to most types of books. It however CAN NOT be: TWILIGHT, about Vampires, too horror-ish, or have a great deal of s*x in it.

Some of my favorites include:

-Bad Kitty and Kitty Kitty by Michele Jaffe

-To Catch A Pirate by Jade Parker

-Ophelia by Lisa Klein

- Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray

- In or Out books by Claudia Gabel

-The Specialist series by Shannon Greenland

I'd prefer the suggestions to be something like these (they don't have to be though). Your suggestions don't have to be main stream (Gossip Girl, The Clique, etc), like I said I'm open to most books.

Thanks

Also a good teenage book is forever by Judy Blume.

Try any books by philippa Gregory e.g. the other boleyn girl!!

  4. You most definitely need to read The A-List! It's a great series. It's about Preppy Rich girls. it a really good series. The first book is of course The A-List. You need to read it. Here's some other books I've read and like.......

    Avalon High

    Daughters of the Moon

    The Mediator: Shadowland

    1-800-WHERE-R-YOU: When Lightening Strikes

Beauty: The retelling of Beauty and the Beast (I couldn't put this book done!).

Midnight Pearl: The retelling of The Little Mermaid

The Rose Bride: The retelling of The White Bride, and The Black Bride

Wild Magic (This is the greatest book in the world!)

    First Test

    The Midnighters

    Uglies

    Tithe

    Enjoy ^_^!

  5. Airhead by Meg Cabot

    Jinx by Meg Cabot

Getting the Girl by Susan Juby

I was initially going to suggest Twilight, but seeing as though you have prohibited it before-hand, I will not, although, I would like to clear the misconception that Twilight is a horror book, it most definitely is not, and is the ideal book for a teenager, but these 3 books are wonderful as well, at least, I enjoyed them.

  6. I've read a loooot of books, but here's some suggestions:

Harry Potter!!! :D lol- JK Rowling

    Artichoke's Heart- Suzanne Supplee

Heaven Looks a lot Like the Mall- Wendy Mass

    Thirteen Reasons Why- Jay Asher

Confessions of a Closet Catholic- Sarah Darer Littman

Sammy Keyes series- Wendelin Van Draanen

The Year of Secret Assignments- Jaclyn Moriarty

The Murder of Bindy Mackenzie- Jaclyn Moriarty

    Things Not Seen- Andrew Clemment

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series- Ann Brashares

Blue is for Nightmares series- Laurie Faria Stolarz

    The Clique series

    hope I helped :D

  7. HEYY TWILIGHT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well anyway...ok so read...The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot!!!!!!!!  YAY!!!!!!

    TWILIGHT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Rats, I was going to recommend the Gemma Doyle Trilogy, they're my favorites too. But anyway, I think you'll enjoy The Luxe series by Anna Godbersen. I know people who loved A Great and Terrible Beauty who loved these as well. They are set in the same time era. Enjoy! http://theluxebooks.com/

Also try some of Jane Austen's books such as Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Sense and Sensibility. They are great classics. ( you said you will be going to the bookstore, classics such as Jane Austen books are often really cheap, under $10)

  9. Okay, i think we may have similar taste because i absolutely adore Jasmine Callihan. Anyways I recommend the following:

    -the Gossip Girl series

    -the Clique series

    [basing off of those books]

-the Ashleys - Melissa De La Cruz

-the A-List series [never read but similar to GG]

    - the It Girl [ similar to GG]

    - Private Series - Kate Brain [ also a mystery]

    - The Confessions of a Shopaholic - Sophie Kinsella

    - the Pretty Little Liars series - Sara Shepard

    - the Luxe series - Anna Godbersen

    - The Upper Class - Hobson Brown

    - Poseur- Rachel Maude

-Chinese Cinderella - Adeline Yen Mah

[I don't know if you will like this, it's a biography, but like i said, these are my favorites so if you like the others you should try it]

Those were all the series, i hate reading series after series, because eventually it gets confusing, and you end up waiting like a year for the next book in the series... Anyways so to break it up hear some other books I read but they aren't part of series:

    -Stealing Heaven- Elizabeth Scott

    -Enthusiasm - Polly Shulman

-Confessions of a Not It Girl [I'm warning you in advance this doesn't have a lot of s*x in it, but it does mentions it, and there's one scene, that's a little weird/disgusting, but it's only one page, and not even like a relationship so it never happens after that][Basically there was one demented guy...]

    -Talent - zoe deans

YOU MUST READ THIS: THE CELEBUTANTE SERIES!!! If you like Bad Kitty and Gossip Girl and Clique it's perfect!!! It's a combination of mystery [ Bad Kitty], fashion [Gossip Girl, Clique], a hint of romance, and a pinch of humor. They have 3 books currently out, I read the first and second though.

BTW: I have not read all the book in the series
