  1. Short term go to the yellow pages or to www.switchboard.com and find the day labor places near you and get someone to drop you off there.  You need to be there early in the AMs.  These places hire unskilled labor by the day and ask few if any background questions.   They provide transportation to the job site.  This should perhaps keep the heat off while you look for a better job.  Workforce Day Labor 407 322-2121 and Labor Ready (877) 221-2080 sound like they wopuld have offices near you,. You'll make close to minimum wage and the main thing you will get out of it besides getting to stay under your gf's roof will be a deep and abiding desire to get a better sort of job. But there is a very good chance that if you show up at a day labor place tomorrow or Mon you will be working that day and will get paid that day.

The advice re getting a state ID card is good.  You need an ID and also you need your social security card.   If you have alcohol or substance issues please consider working on those because most good jobs drug test,. That is not meant as an insult at all just to let you know bec somehow these places have a way of sharing info and better to avoid a test than flunk one.  The idea of working in a GED is also good and if you are comfortable with the drug test then fast food is one possibility and a better one may be the WallMart thing or even KMart, Target etc.  All these places do have some incentives for going back to school and have opportunities for advancement,   More schoolmay be the last thought you wanna think but GED programs or on line GED prep through your local library's website aere geared to ppl who dropped out and usually are a do it at your own pace thing the classes are free and instructors generally want to help not hassel.   That piece of paper can mean hunderds of thousands of dollars over the yrs you work.

Besides fast food and retail consider resort related jobs from maintenance to marketing.   Some resorts pay you to recruit people to take time share tours. You may be working on the phone or going out to a specific location and inviting people to take a tour of the resort in exchange for free dinner, tickets, or motel stay.   There can be good money in that and iof you are comfortable talking to people it's a pretty easy job and one that doesn't usually fuss about drivers license or experience.  If you like (or can tolerate) talking on the phone there were 30 Orlando area telemarketing jobs listed most not requiring experience  Check out http://www.orlandosentinel.com/classifie... too.

If you are applying in a lot of places and not getting a call back one thing may be appearance which is one factor you can control.   Long hair is not a total no but keep it neat, cleaner than clean looking and pulled back.  If keeping long hair or a specific style is not a big issue to you go for a conservative cut till you get a job.   If you have piercings leave the rings and studs out when you go to apply.  If you have tattoos that can be covered by a specific shirt style like longer sleeves wear that style when you apply.  First impressions are a big deal in job hunting.   That includes clothes.  Go for chinos or dress pants for most jobs (not construction or day labor) a shirt with buttons or a polo if you have or can borrow one,  at least clean newish jeans and a T shirt without slogans and definately no drug or booze slogans or stiff from violent music.  Employers get put off by that.  Be careful about personal hygine and breath too.

Smile and be as positive as you can without sounding fake.   Take time to learn a little about the business so you can ask intelligent questions.   Sound like you care about working there not just about some job somewhere.  Show that you have thought about how you will get to work if asked.   Take the names phone numbers, addresses of some adults (pastor, former teacher, neighbor, parent's friends, who will give you a good reference.

If by chance you have done something like odd jobs, lawn mowing, fix it stuff, helping work on cars, doing stuff on net that is called beinbg self employed.  Which sounds better than just didn't work.  If you helped out a member or your or your GF's family in their business you were involved with a family business but now looking to be more independent.  If you've sold or even tried to sell stuff on ebay or through any on line service you were working in the Internet.   Things like that gives a little work history.  That gives the boss a reason to give you a try.   It may even be worth it to look for one or two of the things you can start free on line not because you will probably make money at it but because then you can truthfully say you have an online business but have decided you'd be better off with a regular job.   A lot of getting a job is marketing yourself in the best light.

  5. First of all you should go get a valid state id so that you have a valid id to show.  Pizza places (prep work and making pizzas) don't require driver's licenses.  Wal Mart will hire you...they hired my brother.  He's 18 and hasn't finished pass the 7th grade!!  Your future is looking good now!  Not to mention, Wal Mart has programs to assist with getting your GED!!

Wal Mart is taking over the world and you can be a part of it!!
