Question:

Need a light weight stroller?

My daughter is 2 months old and she weighs about 13lbs. Can she use an umbrella stroller right now or is she still too little? I have a travel system stroller but it is so huge and I only have so much room in my small car. She is getting too heavy to carry around her car seat with her. If an umbrella stroller is unsafe at this age can anyone suggest any other small strollers I could use at her size/age?

  1. You actually don't need to create an account on Buzzillions to find recommendations from other moms.  Just go to strollers and select "lightweight" as the Pro, and Age "0-12 months".

The Maclaren Quest Mod Stroller got a 4.9 (out of 5) stars, and is ranked #2 out of all strollers.  Pretty impressive.  Here's a review that is fits your situation well...

"Our son is 9 weeks old & holds up his head very well. He is 11.lbs-10.oz 25" long. I feel as though this is the Perfect stroller for him/us.

"I hate leaving him in his car seat when we go out, and the travel system stroller (waste of money) takes up my ENTIRE trunk. This Maclaren has changed my life! It takes up hardly any space, is light-weight, folds easily, steers beautifully (I'm 5'4 ,daddy is 6'1) and is sooooo cute. (the print is a black-gray-light blue combo)

WELL worth the price in my opinion. Although the basket is small & diffucult to get into when fully reclined, we make due."

  2. She is too young for an umbrella stroller.  If she's too big for the car seat, take the car seat section out and put her in the stroller itself -- that's what it's meant for.  But if you still don't like your stroller, there are many out there that are small, lightweight & compact like Combi, Graco or MacLaren.  The Graco travel system I have is great & only weighs 11 lbs., but you don't need another travel system of course.  Check out the other ones!

  3. Ok well you can get them at lots of places Wal*mart, Target stores like that but one thing I found is don't get a really cheap one cause they don't last. My wheels are messed up on mine so I don't use it anymore. Pay a little extra for one that will last longer. ANd about the age thing try it and see how sh does your her momma and will know what you think is best for her.

  4. As long as the stroller can lay back flat, she will be fine.

  5. I wouldn't use just a regular umbrella stroller until she can sit with minimal support. They only tend t have lap straps and not the kind that go over the shoulders. Babies R Us has strollers that are somwhere between an umbrella stroller and a big traditional stroller. You could also look into a jogging stroller. They are much lighter weight because they have to be easy to push while jogging.

  6. check babies r us.

  7. try a jogging stroller, they are meant to be light weight

  8. GO TO THE WALMART U CAN GET MANY LIGHT WEIGHT STROLLERS WHICH R CHEAP TOO.

    GOOD LUCK

  9. Don't get the cheap walmart stroller. Its so short it hurts your back and I'm only 5'2. Spend like $5 more at Toys R Us and get a normal height umbrella, still very compact. I used an umbrella stroller when my son was about that age and size and he loved it and did just fine.

  10. I recommend the Graco Metro Lite, they even come with the headrest inserts and they aren't to expensive. They also make a Graco Lite Rider but I thought it was a bit bulkier.

  11. This is what I did.. I made an account on http://www.buzzillions.com and looked up the strollers that mothers have rated. They have a stroller section. That way u can find out more about which one will work best for u and ur babys needs. Good luck. HOpe u find out what u are looking for.

  12. buy a snap and go. she stays in the car seat and you just plop her in.
