I am thinking of taking a trip to Germany to the black forest.

I would also like to visit Transilvania

how far is the black forest from there and are there any nice hotels?

It is quite a ways.  The Black Forest is in southwestern Germany and Transilvania is a region in Western Romania.  It's a long way, really.  I can't get an exact milage because MapQuest doesn't give directions and mileage to there.  But you can look at mapquest for the general idea.  You want to look at Fagaras Romania (that's about the center of the Transilvania region).
