  1. I would stay away from the San Juan, Isla Verde Area where you'll most likely find apts and will pay a lot. Look out side of the metro area, you can always take a short drive at night and hang out, even though there are nice small hang outs outside of San Juan (better prices, cool people and a nice opportunity to experience the culture) Look in the local newspaper, specially on Sundays, that's when the majority of ads are placed, you will see beach, seasonal, etc rentals.  Good Luck!

  2. Hello. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a modest beach vacation.. but PR is a great vacation. What makes PR so great is that like all the caribbean islands it has beautiful beaches, but PR is special becasuse it has so much more. San Juan is a beautiful historical city with lots of spanish influence plus everything modern that you could want. You can see El Morro, the huge 500 yr old fort. In San Juan, Isla Verde beach is cool, kind of like Miami. The nightlife is great too. The food is delicous & the people are friendly.

There are tons of great beaches around the whole island. FOr white powdery sand go to Vieques & Culebra. Rincon has great surfing & beautiful sunsets, even whale watching in the winter. Fajardo has great snorkelling & fishing & boating. Also you can go to the Rain Forest, the bioluminescent Bay, Camuy Caves & Arecibo Telescope. There is so much to do & it is so beautiful. Have fun!

  3. Vieques  and  Isla  verde have many Guest Inn that's  consider  Modest..not  a  5  star hotel.

Mario's in Isla verde  behind  Denny's  is  a  Modest Hotel $80.00 a night.

  4. hey i used to live in puerto rico, right in isla verde. its a good vacation place, expensive for tourists but its like that everywhere isnt it? id recommend el yunque (thats the rainforest) its really nice, culebra is a little island on the south side. isla verde is nice, great hotels, good food, beutiful beaches....surfing is on the north and west sides, banana boat rides, parasailing, wave runners(jet skis) are right on isla verdes beach btu theyre pretty much everywhere. ummm what else...well san juan/el san juan or old san juan is really nice. full of history, lots of forts. on the south side, ponce is great theres a flourescent bay which is really cool and you should definately check it out.

what ill recommend is that you rent a car. depending on how much money you want to spend...........theres hotels everywhere. the big hotels on the north side are really expensive but there are smaller ones too. the beaches are great. night life is great you jsut need to explore a little bit. el yunque is a great day trip. culebra is more for camping. you could drive down to ponce, and culebra. san juan is a good day trip. reallly hot so bring water. theres great stores and outlets there too if you like it. check it out! its worth it.
