Need a name for a city!?

Question

I'm writing a story and I need a name for a large city. It's a kinda, corrupt, industrial, polluted horrible city. But, it's large, and has many people living there. There's not much greenland and lots of traffic. Hmm, think of something like New York. Can anyone help me out?

I've tried thinking but nothing of the sort comes to mind. I keep wanting to say ______ Canyon, but that's not what you're going for I imagine. Sorry.

I thought NYC was pretty nice. How about Gotham City that seems like the kind of noir city you're aiming at. If the action takes place *just* in that city could you leave it un-named. Obviously you'd need names for districts, you know china town, soho, etc. Something that bugs me is when authors write like there's only one industrial area or only one shopping district. Real cities have multiples of everything, some better than others etc.

Glasgow, Scotland.

Murder capital of Europe and most violent city in the world some recent thing showed. (If that's corrupt and horrible enough =S).

Very industrial history.
