  1. Bridgestone dual compound was a great compromise on my K1, was still sticky enough on edges on track days but would still last a bit longer as the centres were slightly harder.

  2. The best thing I could suggest is to first determine the type of riding you do the most of, ie, racing, touring, commuting, canyons, etc. And also figure in the type of conditions you ride in. The next step would be to figure out what your budget is tires. I have worked in the indusrty in the US for years and found that by determining what type of riding the person mostly does and where and when the person rides is the best way to help him or her select the proper tire. There are a lot of great tire companies out there. A few have been suggested be people previous to my answer to you. After you have determined what you are going to do with your bike, a great source is your local shop. Not a dealer, a motorcycle parts shop. They are usually better staffed with enthusiasts and not guys trying just to sell you something for the sake of a sale. Just remember that if you intend to change tire brands or compound, the smart move is to do both front and rear at the same time. This way, the tire compounds work with each other and not against each other. Not only is it safer, but it will enhance the feel of your bike. Maintain the proper air pressure at all times and you will get the best feel and longer life out of your tires.

  3. The Pirelli Diablo is most popular right now. Strada or Rosso.

Pilot Powers have a loyal following as well.

Make sure you get a compound that compliments your riding style.

If you do burnouts and are a heavy freeway rider, get a harder all around compound because it wears slower preventing chicken strips too soon.

If you are a track guy or like to go curve killing, get a dual compound that has harder in the center and softer on edges. This way they're hot and sticky on the edges when needed.

All around soft compound tires don't serve much purpose for street riding.
