okay i need a new bike, but i only have so much money to spend on the bike itself. but i also want certain qualities to go along with it.

Me:

height- 6'00"

weight- 145 lbs

bike:

wheel frame size- 24"-26"

*can't be a mongoose or a huffy

i'd prefer the colors to be red, black, white, silver, or any combonations of them. also needs superior parts. not like $1000 parts, just good brakes that last longs and stuff.

the bike can be new or used it doesn't really matter.

price range: $0- $200 i know the price range is sort of low but you'll be suprised at what kind of bikes you can find for cheap prices, i'm just not good at finding them.

MOST IMPORTANT:

SHIPPING: shipping has to be free or able to be picked up locally around queensbury, New york. no more than 20 miles away. and if the person or buisness is far away, shipping must be free.

just post a link to the web-page i can see the bike

if you show me the bike i like i'll choose yours as best answer

For $200.00, you are much better off buying a good quality bike in used condition than a brand new department store or discounter bike.

So, I'd suggest you go take a look at Craigslist and see what you come up with.

    Here are a few:

I don't really know what other towns are around Queensbury.  You can use the search function within the bicycle section of Craigslist to specify other nearby towns.

    Hope this helps.

  3. you won't find any decent bikes in that range, if you bring it up $300 you will have 10x better chances of finding a decent bike.

  4. dude just go to a local walmart or bike store

  5. Many communities nationwide have "bike kitchens". These non profit groups take used bikes, remodel them and sell or donate them used to people who need them. They may be your best source for affordable bikes. And they are the best way for many of you to learn how to maintain your bike. Some links here:

  6. sure. let me check the Queensbury, NY classifieds, call the local bike shops for used bike stock, check craigslist, ebay, etc. on second thought, just buy the huffy or mongoose. you're too lazy to do the leg work looking for the bike, so you're probably too lazy to ride it anyway..

  7. You dont seem to specify a road bike, comfort bike, or mountain bike. The problem is that in that price range you aren't going to find much quality. Your choices are a cheap dept. store bike; maybe you could find a Schwinn at Target. Or you can go with a cheap Iron Horse from Perfomance Bicycle, which has locations all over the place. The advantage to Performance is that you get a lifetime of free tune-ups if you buy from them. That only covers adjustments, not parts. Disadvantage is that its not a great bike. If you want it for riding on a paved path and nothing else, it may hold up OK. Honestly, you are better of going to a bike shop and picking up a $300+ Giant or Specialized. They are solid bikes and have better components. Here is a link to a Performance Iron Horse that seems to fit your criteria; but again, I can't recommend this as a good bike (I made that mistake, had to sell it, and got myself an awesome Specialized). Also, the in-store price may be more expensive, but they do honor the online price; so bring a print-out.
