We are At&t customers - our old modem is going out and we need a new one. Don't really want to get another AT& T modem because they have bad reviews. How do I choose one, and do I have to choose an At&t modem (sold through Best Buy)? Our new speed is up to 3.0 and 512Kps.

  1. well I have verizon... It works well. :D But I'm only 13 so I dont konw to much about that sorta stuff. Sorry. :( But I do suggest that you get a verizon modem.

  2. AT&T 2701 HGB

  3. Get one that supports the service provided by your ISP.

  4. If you have no clue your best bet is to go to someone who would help. I say go to Best Buy and get a Geek Squad guy to talk to you. Those people know an awful lot about computers.

  5. Linksys if it is compatible with AT&T.

  6. well first of all, i'm guessing those speeds are a 3meg down and 512 upload sleeps (which is kps, big K is wrong).

You will want to go to a place like bestbuy or egghead and buy any modem that supports those speeds, which really should be any modem. If you talk to them, make sure you tell them you want a broadband modem, and tell them waht connection type. I believe most use coax but i think some still use wire.

    edit:

most of these people are suggested an old modem. Which like i said with you saying, you have a cable modem with a 3 meg download and 512 up. Anyone saying stuff like 56k and whatnot or connect it into a pci slot most likely isn't what you are looking for. Those are dial-up modems, not broadband. Also most companies let you rent them from 3 bucks a month, which is a far better deal than buying one.

  7. thats the way to go

  8. PCI modem with 52k.  Comes with driver CD.  Any PCI modem will work.

  9. 56K

  10. dont know

  11. modem? well i dont think you would wanna spend that money on a modem. comcast has a great deal bundle right now!
