  1. Do a little research on the web and find out what the top songs were the year they were married.  You could do a couple years before and after to give you a bigger range of years to work from.  1966 would have some great songs.  Also, popular movies for young people at that time were the Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello (not spelled correctly) movies about being at the beach.  Are there any beach photos of your folks?  Other things that were popular during that time were: NASA and going into space (we were trying to get to the moon), the drink called Tang- it was a powdered orange drink that they told us the astronauts drank, I think President Johnson was in the White House- his wife LadyBird Johnson was big on making America's highways beautiful.  Try googling 1966 and see what you come up with.  That might give you ideas for songs, too.

  2. I'm not a huge country music fan, but there is this one country song called "Remember When," by Alan Jackson, that is just lovely, and I have always thought it would be a perfect song for an anniversary after many years together.  It's so beautiful I basically cry every time I hear it.  Also, since it basically details all the milestones of a couple's life together, you can time the photos to the parts in the song that mention it (put their wedding picture up during the verse about the wedding, put pics of you and your siblings in the verse about the children- good stuff!!) Here are the lyrics:

Remember when I was young and so were you

and time stood still and love was all we knew

You were the first, so was I

We made love and then you cried

    Remember when

Remember when we vowed the vows

    and walked the walk

Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard

We lived and learned, life threw curves

There was joy, there was hurt

    Remember when

Remember when old ones died and new were born

And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged

    We came together, fell apart

    And broke each other's hearts

    Remember when

Remember when the sound of little feet

    was the music

We danced to week to week

Brought back the love, we found trust

Vowed we'd never give it up

    Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed so old

Now lookn' back it's just a steppin' stone

    To where we are,

    Where we've been

Said we'd do it all again

    Remember when

Remember when we said when we turned gray

When the children grow up and move away

We won't be sad, we'll be glad

For all the life we've had

    And we'll remember when

  3. I totally agree with the first answer. She is correct with her idea..

  4. Steven Curtis Chapman: " I Will Be There " and " I Will Go There With You" .  He is a contemporary christian artist and these two songs were love songs written for his wife.  Google him or go to any christian bookstore or WalMart.  He's very popular.  I guarantee you will not be disappointed.  You do not have to be a christian to love these songs.  Give them a look.

  5. Do some investigating. They would probably appreciate hearing some of the songs that were played at THEIR wedding 42 years ago. Also, go through their CDs and old record collection for ideas.
