We've been trying to conceive for 11 months. My periods are irregular....between 21-39 days. My last period was June 25th. I got positive ovulation tests July 9th,10th,11th. Had brown spotting July 15th, 16th, 17th. I noticed a white discharge on July27th so I tested for ovulation and got a positive. Was the brown spotting after the last ovulation my period then? Can you menstrate that soon after ovulating? I took a HPT on July 25th, & 28th negative. I'm not stressed at all, just puzzled on what I should do next.

  1. if you have irregular periods it's best to see a doctor, they can prescribe things like Clomid to help regulate them and make conceiving easier on you, the second positive was likely a false positive....you can also ask a doctor online for free for advice, try the website FertilityTies

    good luck!!

  2. Keep in mind that OPK's do not work for everyone- some women always get positives, and some women never get positives. I really would recommend that you chart your temps- it's a lot more reliable and it's cheaper.

  3. Sounds like you are having the same problem with OPKs that I did.  I got TONS of unusual/impossible/false results when I used OPK's.  It's not possible for you to have an LH surge for 3 days in a row, and it doesn't make sense that you'd get ANOTHER positive 2 weeks later.  I finally gave up on OPK's and relied on charting my temperatures to decide when I was ovulating -- you may want to do the same.  You can also consult a doctor for advice (generally if you have been trying to conceive for 1 year without success, it's time to seek medical advice).    Good luck!
