  1. I have done both and I would also recommend the bus tour. The Canal tour is very North/South and many of the attractions are on the East/West  corridor. The bus will also provide you with more sights.  You will probably see things on the bus tour and want to get off or come back and see it.

The canal tour is nice but much less to see.

  2. Double Decker, in my opinion.

It would more than likely still take you by the canal but it would also take you into downtown more; whereas the boat wouldn't. There is so much more to see in Ottawa than what you can see from the canal. I  recommend you take the bus and I hope you enjoy Ottawa!

  3. I like the boat trip, either the canal or the river.  Totally different perspective than being on the road.

  4. Personally if I was a tourist of ottawa and could not decided between water or land I would go on the lady dive tour.  It is the tour bus/boat that starts as a bus and then goes in to the water as a boat.  Two trips for the price of one this way you don't have to decided which one you can see the city by both ways on one tour
