  1. maybe she could use her opposite hand

  2. sry cant help u on that one, but thx for the points

  3. sure, just wrap it and wrap it make sure to cushion the top and she will let you know if it isn't enough. Walgreen's and Rite Aid, CVS all carry splints for the thumb, put one under the ace bandage.   Good Luck~

  4. I dont kno how to set without using her thumb, but she should just heavily tape it up beofre playing that should be fine and she should be good to go

  5. tape it alot thatll work..and use a small brace to support it

  6. when you set you use all of your fingers, but i suggest taping it. one of my teammates sprained her pinky til it was black and blue three days before finals, and she basically just iced it a lot. rest, ice, compression, elevation. tape it when she plays, and retape it whenever you can. itll prolly get messed up when she is using her hands, so just retape every hour or so.

  7. She should tape it up and she should be fine

  8. You need to tape it up so that you don't reinjure or aggravate it.  Athletic trainers are probably the best in this.  If your school does not have one, find a chiropractor who specizes in sports rehab.  Make sure that if you are going to a chiropractor that he/she knows how to do sports taping as this isn't a regular curriculum for chiropractors and handful of them go through special training for this...

Don't bother with MD's.  They don't know how to do taping.  Usually, athletic director or coaches may have athletic trainer back ground and they may be able to do this for your daughter.

  9. She should be fine, especially after the doctor said okay.

I mean I did it so many times when I was getting into volleyball. Four months should be long enough to recover from any sports injury.

To set the ball, she will definitely need help from the thumb. She just has to do it little by little at the very beginning before she gets her full strength back.

Some other players (sorry, I did not see those other post when I was typing) might suggest that she tape her thumb, but I don't think it is necessary. At 13 years old, after four months' recovery, she should have no problem using her thumb again.
