Need advice--friends and high school?

I'm a sophmore in high school and I've just moved to a new town. I don't know anyone in the school and I'm nervous. I really want to make good friends. At my old school, I was the shy girl with not many friends. I'm always nice and smiley at school but the part that I find hardest is establishing real friendships. I want to actually hang out with people on weekends. I've moved from Long Island, New York where you have to be a j*p/rich kid to survive... to a small town in CT. I feel like the girls here aren't going to be as materialistic and fake. Anyway, I just need some tips or advice on this? Thanks in advance! <3

  1. Well, i moved in my junior year of high school. To be honest, it's only bad for the first week. After a while, you become adapted and more established in your school. So don't worry too much and focus more on your academics: you will make friends, trust me.

    Good luck!

  2. Probably bcuz you had to be fake at your old school is the reason you didnt have many friends. If you think that the ppl there are going to be nicer.. you will find someone you actually will like to hang with...and you wanting to hang out on the weekends, YOU do that...tell your friends one day "you wanna go to the mall or something?" and they will be like sure. nothing to it is there now? Now go out there will your shy head held up high and walk into the school like nobody's business...good luck ^_^

  3. just be nice and try to talk with people , it works and i know you will find some friends just try not be shy
