As a bred and born Georgian, who lives with no air conditioner, I'm used to surviving the summer in my tiniest shorts and tops, and wearing only slightly longer shorts and more sleeves when I go anywhere. I'm hoping (and planning) to be able to afford a trip to England in a year or so, and it has to be over summer break since I promised to take my younger sister with me if mom okays it. So, since I don't really have much in the way of "other wearther" clothing, because the winter is so short (last year, I was still roasting during the day at the end of October), I mostly have just a few thin sweaters, a couple pairs of pants and a heavy coat. What sorts of clothing would I need to feel comfortable over there? I've heard that "hot" in English weather might be chilly for anyone else.

  1. Yes, by your standards English summer weather might be chilly.  You can expect some rain and fog, colder rain than Georgia rain for sure.  You will certainly need a couple of pairs of long pants, a light jacket and something for rain - possibly an umbrella.  You will need shoes as sell as sandals.  Depending on how long you will be there, think about how much you need to pack if every day is too chilly for shorts.  Capri pants might be an option, and a couple of pairs of shorts in case there are hot days at your comfort level.  It also depends on where you will be.  As anywhere, inner cities are hotter than the countryside or seaside.  Here is a link to the BBC weather site, and it should help you.  You can get an idea of the weather now, and expect it will probably be similar next summer.  Enjoy your trip.
