Need advice from those who have a satellite dish?

I lived in Italy and France and sometimes I miss the TV shows I used to watch. In France I had a satellite dish with a decoder so that I was able to get International channels. I really don't know how it works in the USA; I assume it must be the same since we are talking about satellites, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

  1. get a free to air system fta receiver

  2. In the US you pay for what you want, it isn't subsidized by the gov. (usually).

Only the local broadcast stations are free here - no satellite.

You can look at Dish or Directv websites to see the international station packages they have and the cost - they do have a lot of international channels.

PS. The benefit of paying is that it's higher quality with more stations than what a basic government subsidized free package would be.

  3. Do a search on FTA.  You can watch free-to-air channels free legally.  Ask your question there.

You are asking your question the wrong way and in the wrong forum.  Always protect yourself legally.  Many people were prosecuted during the D!rect TV crack down in the 90s.

  4. I have DISH satellite and they offer international packages.  It varies depending on who your provider is.
