I am just barley 18 weeks pregnant and a week and a half ago I talked to my doctor about my anxiety meds because they werent doing it for me. I take 10 mg prozac before bed and .5mg of lorazepam twice daily for anxiety. She told me to either take .5 mg three times daily or to take 1mg (which i was on before I got pregnant) twice daily. I havent had the courage to take 1mg yet but the .5 does absolutley nothing for me. Should I just continue the dose I'm on or should I go up to the 1mg. I don't want to hurt my baby but I just can't do it without the meds. I dont eat, I dont sleep and my doctor knows it which is why she has kept me on it. Please help me out!

I started out taking prozac 20mg daily.. then it dropped to 10mg and now I am just taking 5mg and still doing very well. I might be considering taking medication off my life.

  2. try massage. it did wonders for me. i am much more even keeled than i was before. it might be safer for the baby until he/she is born.

  3. If your doctor said it's safe, then it is - doctors are very very careful of what they give you - when I got pregnant, I had to go off of or change several meds.

I would go the 1 mg because I used to take it and I know it worked better than the .5 for me.

The doctors weigh every medicine you want to take, and they decide if the danger of you taking it is higher than the danger of you not taking it (anxiety is VERY bad for a fetus - stress can actually cause miscarriages.)  Trust your doctor and do what you need to do to keep yourself ok through the pregnancy.

Also, try adding some behavior things in addition to the meds - I LOVED yoga classes when I was pregnant - it helped me de stress, and it really helped my muscles and back and legs, etc not hurt so much.
