Need advice on making disney cars cake and cupcakes for 4 yr olds party?

i am so tired of store bought bland tasting cakes , yeah they are pretty but yuck no taste!

so im gonna make my sons cake and cupcakes its cars the movie theme figure the lil kids would rather have cupcakes, any ideas onn some cool ones easy ones too please i know ebay has a cake decorating kit but i want something unique keep i mind im not a baker lol thanks in advance i will choose best answer!

well the first thing you need to do is not panic, you can get through this four year olds party!!

If you're not big on baking then you need to make the cupcakes in advance to see if they work out and fix that up. Once you have done that, THEN you can start decorating.

http://www.abc.net.au/children/play/make... is a nice and simple recipe, just remove the sultanas because somehow I don't think 4 year olds would like the taste.

Usually, you can ask about in coles and woolworths etc (if your in australia... if not then the chain supermarkets there should be the same) and they will have some decorations, if not then party suppliers have pretty much everything under the sun stashed away somewhere.

If this doesn't work, then all I can suggest is experiment. you could make a simple Icing ( http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/12028/ea... ) and find different lollies and chocolates you can sculpt to looking similar to the disney cars.

Unfortunately I can't find anything on the internet to help you, but I'm sure you will have good fun trying tricky teqniques

Betty crock er has a set that is inexpensive and u don't have to worry it really does the work for u..also go on food network.com..look under semi-homemade with Sandra Dee..she will have recipes that are easy to follow and u use alot of store brought products..let me know how it turns out..
