I'm thinking about buying a new camcorder and I want to get Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro or something. If you own these programs do they work well for you? What camcorder do you have? Which ones are compatible with it?

  1. Hey Jess,

I have been using Final Cut Pro for over 5 years, and it's the best I've ever used. It allows you to do a lot of cool things to your video footage. i will recommend it 101%. I use the JVC GY-HD110U.

  2. pro and express will recognise practically every modern camera available.

i had some problems with express and found that importing files and capturing video was severally limited and problematic.

sure, i've had hassles with pro BUT it has proven to be an outstanding application provided you work hard to study the ins and outs of it. it can do far more than i am capable of at the moment and comes with a very steep learning curve.

if you are a student you may find educational discounts on the apple store site:

    http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images...

final cut pro studio 2 is around $699 as an academic price saving you around half price!

it comes with EVERYTHING that you could possibly use including sound, titles, motion colour correction and dvd authoring.

    it's sooooo worth it.

ps - make sure your machine has plenty of grunt. it's gunna need it!

pps - i use a sony HVR-V1P. full HD specs for minimum bucks!

  3. For the camcorder... Sony Handycam all the way!

I've never used either software, but the cyberlink power director 5 is awesome and works fine for me. Very simple to use
