Need advice on which brand of TV...?

Question

I am ready to buy a 37-42 inch flat screen 1080p T.V. The brands that fall within my price range are: Philips, Magnavox, Panasonic and JVC. Which out of these have the best reputation and quality?

None of these brands are very good in LCD.  Panasonic makes nice Plasmas but their LCDs are manufactured by someone else.

Have you taken a look at Toshiba?  They should have models in your price based on what you wrote.

By the way, this is a helpful site where you can enter your item and how much you want to pay.  They do the shopping for you and recommend places to buy it online for your price.

Panasonic does make LCDs, they are better known for their plasmas but the LCD line is also good quality. Sharp Aquos is probably the best for lcd though and I doubt the price would be much more than a Panny

Panasonic is the best brand out of those 4. It also depends on if you want plasma or lcd.

I would choose the Panasonic.  Panasonic and Pioneer are the two most respected brands in flat panel technology, and the Panasonic pdp-42pz80u is one of the most highly rated 42" sets on the planet.  It has very, very dark black levels, and a superb video processor, that will give you very smooth, unpixelated images.

It also has an sd card slot that you can view jpegs and avchd video from.

No they are not.  Sony and Samsung are the most respected brands.  Panasonic doesn't even make LCD tv's.

Look dude, if you want a plasma get a Panasonic.  If you want a LCD go with the JVC. Phillips is Magnavox and they are both C tier tv's(wal-mart c**p).
