Need advise and ideas on classroom turtles

Question

we want to get a classroom turtle but are having trouble finding out about the different kinds and stuff like that. we want to get a plant eating turtle . my mom thought of getting silver dollar turtles but there illegal :[ soo much for that idea.have any advice or ideas or even no were i could find out more about pet turtles?

red ear sliders carry salmonella i dont think the small ones are illegal to have it is just illegal for a pet store to sell them

Something to think about--Turtles and other reptilian animals can carry salmonella--so you might not want to put a whole classroom at risk. otherwise i would get a painter turtle

Frogs and or box turtles are less likely to eat in front of the kids, which could make them uneasy.

Those silver dollar turtles are called 'Sliders, Cooters , painted ,map and yellow bellied are require the same care and feeding..

I have had two Sliders for 36 yrs now plus a 8 yr old and a 5 yr old..

I have had them in a 150gal pond for about 6 yrs now..

Frogs or lizards...YES!

get a tortiose most turtles dont eat plants besides box turtles that are endangered. also maybe a greek tortiose might do
