  1. You have to have sufficient income to live comfortable and cover all your own expenses.  Where the income is from is not that important as long as it it legitimate and safe.  There are people who are on disability who are able to foster and even adopt through the state.  It all depends on where you are located and their need for foster parents.

But the greater question here is -- is this a good lifestyle for a child?  Can you provide good care, friends, play dates, trips to the park, decent schools, PTA meetings, little league, books, clothes, good medical care, medical insurance, reliable transportation, etc?

This is just the beginning.  If you have a limited income you may not be able to easily cover all the costs of raising a child.  And there are expenses connected with adoption even through the state.

Call your local Child Protective Services office and ask for the adoption unit, and ask your questions there.  They will be the ones to make this decision, and it varies from state to state.  Some states have policies that you cannot be on government aid of any kind and foster or adopt.  Check it out!

    Good luck!

  2. Are you kidding? Do you think the state would give you a child with living conditions like that? No job, food stamps??

  3. Your Financial stability is not all they take into consideration when approving or denying an adoption application.

I know you really must want a child, and you probably would be a great mother but, raising a child can be tiresome and time consuming, so taking care of your parents and your son or daughter, maybe too much for your already hectic schedule,

They would look at that aspect more than your financial situation. Could you juggle parenting and caring for your folks?

.....in terms of the financial aspect, I'm sure where you live has special income support programs for people who adopt children. So that shouldn't be the problem. But you will have to move into the a separate apartment building or a near neighbourhood if you plan to get those benefits without affecting your dad's disability, this will also show that you are willing to go the extra mile for your child

    Good luck

  4. no, you need to have solid means of providing for the baby.

  5. Your income or lack there of would be taken into account but also the fact that you care for your parents. They might not think you have enough time for a child and to give the child what it needs

  6. You would not be approved to adopt with no income and getting food stamps.  Having your parents living with you would not disqualify you, though.

  7. I'm a licensing worker and let me first first say that I hope "Mommy to 2" is just kidding. Of course you can. Go to your local social service office or private agency (Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Charities). Those are the easiest and lest expensive ways of adopting. Everyone who wants to adopt needs to do a home study and take a 9 week training course. Everyone in your home will have to have background checks done.  Once everyone is cleared and you've completed training you can have a child placed in your home. That child will need to be in your home for six months before you can pursue adoption. That's it in a simplified nut shell. Good luck!

  8. Most likely not.  Sign up to be a foster parent.
