I've asked this before but I need more answers.

I've gained 41 pounds total so far.I'll be 26 weeks on August 31. i was 124 before pregnancy. Here's my monthly/weekly weight gain:

11 weeks-133 pounds

15 weeks-135 pounds

18 weeks-144 pounds

22 weeks-150 pounds

25 weeks-161 pounds

25 weeks 5 days-165 pounds

I'll be taking the sugar glucose test on thursday but I was wondering if I could have gestational diabetes due to my weight gain?

I also have very swollen feet(i wear slippers everyday because i can't find any shoes that fit me) and legs. I get headaches about 3-4 times a week. My blood pressure is fine unless I get mad. Can I also have preeclampsia? My mom had it when she was pregnant with my brother at 15. I know it's more likely for pregnant teens to get it but am i more likely to have/get it if my mom had it? I've reduced my salt intake, drink lots of water, and elevate my feet, i pretty much tried everything for the swelling but nothing helps.

P.S.All the weight is going to my belly.

  1. hmmm all you can do is wait for the glucose test. i had it last week and my levels came out higher than normal so i went today and had the three hour glucose test. I dont think that your weight gain is a sign UNLESS your doctor has shown concern about it. Ive only really gained 5 pounds from my pre pregnancy weight and my sugars are all out of wack. So whether you gain 5 pounds or 40 it just depends on ones body. MY SWELLING is infact worse than ever though. Elevating my feet and drinking more water just isnt doing the trick for me either. If your protein is ok when they do the urine test and your blood pressure is fine than you have nothing to worry about with the preclampsia.

  2. i think you maybe fine but just in case you should try to eat as healthy as you can you can even try to limit your sugar in take

  3. your weight gain will steady out I have gained 55 lbs by week 36 and all of it too is in my belly ....swelling is common unless you have swelling above the waist I wouldn't worry about it headaches are also common but if they tend to go away with tylenol again I wouldn't worry ....preeclampsia is associated with swelling above the waist...seeing spots or blurry vision....headaches only if they don't go away with tylenol or eating....gestational diabetes on the other hand could be an issue but I highly doubt it all it is ...is how well your body digests your sugar intake and make sure you eat a good high protein meal before you go to the doc that day it will help you not get sick and don't eat sweets 2-3 days before the test it will help as well  and lowers the chance of you failing the test......part of your weight gain is water weight try scheduling your doctors appt in the mornings you will tend to weigh less than in an afternoon appt. Good Luck

  4. My friend gained over 60 pounds with her pregnancy and never got gestational diabetes.  Just be sure to watch your diet and you probably won't have any problems.  If you start to notice your fingers and face swell up (not just feet, that is to be expected) as well as a rise in blood pressure get to your doctor quick... those are signs of preeclampsia.

  5. You could have the beginning of preeclampsia. When I was pregnant, I suddenly gained 15lbs in 2 wks and my blood pressure shot up and I swelled terribly, especially my feet, legs, hands and face. If it is preeclampsia or the beginning of it try to make sure you're eating at least 100 grams of protein a day because it can help. My blood pressure was also normal (100/60) up until I was about 30 weeks, then it started slowly but steadily climbing. By the time I delivered, (I was induced at 37wks, 2 days) it was 200/125 and I had gained 60lbs of fluid. Seriously, try the protein and keep drinking lots and lots of water. I wish you the best of luck and really hope you don't have either.  I'm not sure about the gestational diabetes, but I know for a fact that preeclampsia really sucks, but if you do have either, it should go away shortly after you deliver. Again, good luck!

  6. I don't think there is a genetic pre-disposition, where gestational diabetes is concerned.

  7. when your pregnant they say you should gain between 25-35 pounds if your having one child but i gained 50 but at the same time i was also under weight when i got pregnant it could just be what foods you are eating and how often you eat dont starve yourself though because if your hungry its your baby saying you need food just talk to your doctor about it and if they have a nutrionist then see if they can let you know what foods you should be eating and how often
