Need birthday help for my daughter's party?

My daughter is turning 3 on June 27, 2008 and my husband and I are throwing her a birthday party. It's a cupcake themed party, and colors are chocolate brown and pink. I need ideas on games, goody bags, favors, etc. I want to keep it all about the kids so little details for them like the favors will be great. Our budget is about $300 and I think we can do a lot with that much if we spend it wisely. It's going to be at my mother in laws house, and we were thinking about getting a couple of little waiting pools for the kids since it's going to be like over 100 (we live in Fresno, Ca) As for the menu I was going to order pre-cooked chicken, macaroni salad, fruit salad, beans, rice (my husband is Hispanic) rolls, or tortillas. We are also going to get a pinata. As for the dessert, I work at a bakery so I'm gong to order cupcakes with chocolate brown and pink deco, and then a separate little cake for the birthday girl. What do you think? Please I need help. I'm really stressing out here!

  1. u should ask her wat she wants her cake to look like and what she wants to give her little friends, remember it is her party, not urs so let her have a little fun to

  2. Stop stressing.  She is only 3 and won't remember a thing.  Parties are easy when they are this young.  As long as there is something fun for her to do she will be happy.  Wait until she is much older to spend that much money.  I've never spent over $100 on any birthday party and they have all been hits.

  3. If your daughter is only 3 then it seems this party is more for you than for her! She won't even remember it.  Don't stress yourself out.   How about the kids tossing water balloons to each other.  Buy cute little water "guns" as party favors and for them to play with, or other water toys such as the frisbees or balls that soak up water.  Cute sunglasses maybe?  It is a little late but the Oriental Trading Company (mail order, internet) has a ton of party favors and decorations.  The kids would be happy with Dollar Store favors, but 3 is a bit young for those since maybe some of the children will be younger?  Maybe get a lot of beach balls, they are like $0.80 at Walmart for small ones. Perhaps post this question in the Parenting section, you will get a lot more answers.

  4. Menu sounds great.. and cupcakes are a fabulous dessert. Having a home party is so great at this age!Check out this water themed party and there are awesome ideas on the site: www.celebrationideasonline.com..go to family fun and click birthday party for toddler.. it describes a water themed "Slip and Slide" party and your age group would be perfect. The whole party is planned there.. from favors to ideas to keep them busy..it is a cute party and could work great for you and you will be under budget I bet. Good Luck!

  5. Woah, I agree. Isn't that a little too much? I suggest you don't stress out when your plan doesn't fall into place. Ask your daughter what SHE wants. But if that's really what you guys want, then that does sounds great! What about a pinata? Those are usually really fun. Water balloons too!!!

  6. How about a "pin the cherry on the cupcake" game? .. (like a spin-off of "pin the tail on the donkey" but whichever child pins the cherry to the closest top center of the cupcake) ... You could make a Cupcake from posterboard, etc... and I'm sure any of the  supplies you would need can be found in a dollar store.

Goody Bags can consist of anything from candy (softer candy is better for younger children) to granola bars and fruit snacks ...  bubbles, small crayons and coloring books. Army men in goody bags for boys, you can buy a whole bag for a buck or so and split them up into the boys bags. The Goody Bag doesn't need too along with the "cupcake" theme so don't stress about that.

    Good luck with everything! =)
